Today we Remember 9/11, the tragedy that shook us-but didn’t break us
All of us at trueITpros would like to take the time to remember and reflect on the events that happened 14 years ago on September 11. We will keep our post brief, as there are no words that could ever sum up the strength, courage and sorrow that surrounds this day. The team at trueITpros thinks it’s important to take a moment to Remember 9/11.
First and foremost, our thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We will never be able to erase the damage caused by that tragic day but we will now and forever, Remember 9/11. Secondly, we will never forget the courageous and brave acts of the first responders. The firefighters, police officers, medical staff and countless other members of society re-acted so swiftly and selflessly. Their actions to keep us safe, in the midst of a terrifying time is appreciated more than we could express. We will always remember those first to the scene and those who worked tirelessly for weeks, months and years after.
The trueITpros team would like to thank the men and women who have worked so hard to rebuild and give us ways to remember and honor where tragedy struck. We think it’s important to the families of the victims to Remember 9/11, so they know their family members will always be honored. When we Remember 9/11, it helps pay tribute to the survivors of the attacks, as we will never know their struggle, but we know we can rally around them with love, support and understanding.
The trueITpros team thinks it’s important to take a moment to Remember 9/11 because it is a major milestone in our countries history. The list of people to remember, thank, and honor is endless. Although there is still sadness in the air, we know that as a country we will continue to rebuild, support, and Remember 9/11.
There is a Windows 10 scam that will come through your email and attack your computer
Windows 10 Scam information
The Windows 10 scam is a small trick that can do some big damage to your computer. This ransomware comes in the form of an email that seems to be from Windows. The email claims that you can update to Windows 10 for free. Once the virus has infected your computer and the hacker has control, you will be asked to pay a fee to get control back of your computer. This scam came at the perfect time, as the Windows 10 update just dropped. Here are some details about this scam, what you can do to protect yourself, and tips for getting control if your computer has been taken over by a hacker.
The first thing to keep in mind is that for the time being, Microsoft is NOT sending out upgrades by email. This Window’s 10 scam just makes it seem like Microsoft is allowing to upgrade your computer for free. Microsoft is currently only updating customers with Windows 7 and 8 by sending a notification directly to the user’s desktop. Another thing to keep in mind is the pitfalls of ransomware. Just because the hacker says they will turn your computer back over to you after paying the fee, does not mean it is true. Never pay the fee that hackers are requesting – contact and IT professional immediately.
If you haven’t gotten this email yet, but want to keep your computer safe, here are a few tips we read in an article by Clark Howard about the Windows 10 scam, that we agree with.
- When you’re on public Wi-Fi, don’t access any of your financial institutions or do any kind of bank transaction
- When you’re using Wi-Fi at a hotel, make sure you are using the real connection, not a fake one created by hackers to steal your information
- Keep browsers, applications, and plugins up to date with the latest security patches and updates
- For basic protection use anti-virus and anti-malware software – and keep it up to date.
These are just some basic ways to keep your computer safe from viruses, and the Windows 10 scam. To read the article the trueITpros team took a look at this morning, check it out here. For questions about keeping your computer safe, contact the professionals at trueITpros at 678-534-8776 today.
What questions do you have for your trueITpros team?

Do you have some IT, marketing, or SEO questions? Maybe you’re just looking for a company to help you manage your IT services, and aren’t sure where to look. If that sounds like you, then it is a perfect time to ask your trueITpros team. We mentioned last week a few of the great things we did this summer. Another item on the list was: learn. Small businesses are always learning and adapting to their environment, and without continual growth success would not be possible. On top of the already impressive knowledge our team members have, we had a great summer learning new things. With that in mind, now is a great time to send us your questions!
We discussed a lot of things this summer on the blog. From viruses to Windows 10 and everything in between, we covered a lot of ground. If there are things you may not be sure about, we encourage you to let us know! Not sure what exactly Windows 10 brings to the table? Maybe you’re not sure if you’re still at risk for the Android hack. Don’t stress – that is what the team here at trueITpros is for. Summer can be a busy season for a small business – what was on your calendar?
Small Business Simmers
If you have a small business, summertime can sometimes be hazy and lazy or busy and hectic. For all business, there tends to be a season where things really pick up. For the trueITpros team, this summer has definitely been a busy time. Unlike summer breaks in school, life doesn’t just take a little break when things heat up. No matter what the weather is like, people still need your services. From gaining great new team members to adding a form of client outreach, we accomplished a lot and are looking forward to a great fall.
One of the great things about being a small business is the flexibility to change how you interact with your clients. Last week we posted about our first 2015 Tech Updates at Corporate Environments. With all of the new updates and features coming out with Windows 10, we wanted to make sure their employees are up to date and know the basics. This was something new we added this summer, and we really enjoyed the additional one on one interactions with CE! We can’t wait to see how the Tech Updates continues to grow. The next one is scheduled for next week for the staff at Monte Hewett Homes, one of our biggest clients.
Are you a small business owner or team member? We would love to hear about your summer. There are always new things to learn, people to meet and things to do. Building a sense of community and a strong relationship with other small business owners is a great way to build connections – so head over to our Facebook page and tell us about your summer!
